There’s a water tower in a town I used to know. I never thought much about it until it was gone from my daily view — one of those things that just was, like the sound of screen doors and the smell of somebody else’s dinner through an open window.
I painted this from memory and feeling more than reference. Two people in the middle there — I’ve been thinking about who they are. Maybe it doesn’t matter. Maybe you already know.
Some places hold us even after we’ve stopped holding them.
