Practice Boats

Who doesn't love to sit on the edge of the water and watch boats drift peacefully in the water. I am excited to get a seashore composition together that reflects my home here in Louisiana. Surely I can find a way to throw in a few boats. Here I have worked them out on scratch paper. I like to work on all the elements individually before I put together a composition. This way if I discover that I really need a lot of practice I can do it before the final picture. Hopefully, I get a composition completed this weekend…

My Ducks

My Ducks

On my way home I often get stuck at the same red light day in and out. While I hate sitting in traffic, I have found that there is a family of ducks in the pond by the road. I catch myself just watching them hunting for food, paddling around, and just enjoying the moment. Oh to be a duck and have no worries. A Dolls Life

My Mom loved dolls and miniatures. She used to set them out for holidays and decorate her doll house for Christmas. She loved the idea of the perfect family, though she would admit it wasn't possible. As such, I was always on the look out for interesting little miniatures for her collection. this picture is based off of a small wooden doll I picked up in Sweden for her. I know that she would have loved this picture and I hope that you do as well. https://youtu.be/j6-FOIpB9DA "A Doll's Life" Watercolor on Cotton Paper 4"x6"

I hope that you enjoy this one as much as I did. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Gabriel_Catholic_Church

Louisiana is Home

The two-lane road that passes in front of my house winds away in either direction.  It is lined with old plantations and new garden homes, each fitting neatly within its own space, like puzzle pieces fitted together.  It is on this road where dreams begin and wander off into the afternoon light.  Here where the golden rays pass through the oak trees that hang over the road casting their long shadows. Louisiana is home.  Where even those in the city have a pot or two of tomatoes ripening in the sun and mint in the landscape for juleps. Where the…
